About Kathy
Hello! I am the founder of Wee Play and have been learning and playing with families since 2001. The Wee Play studio was located in the Sugar Oak Office Park in Herndon until 2012, where my staff of teachers and I offered parent and child enrichment play classes, summer camps, special events, birthday parties, and drop-in open play for children ages 0 - 5 and their caregivers.
I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Boston Infant Parent Mental Health Graduate Certificate Program founded by Dr. T. Berry Brazelton and Dr. Ed Tronick. I have received my endorsements as an Infant and Early Childhood Family Specialist from the Virginia Association For Infant Mental Health and facilitated group parent education classes and parent cafes for Fairfax County Department of Family Services. For Fairfax County Public Schools,* I coordinate playgroups and coauthored a facilitator curriculum guide and lead training sessions and reflective supervision for playgroup teachers. I also have served as a Family Coach at homeless and domestic violence shelters in Northern Virginia. My presentations to preschool teachers, childcare providers, caregivers, parent groups, and family support staff include such topics as:
